Job Description

Description (Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote) An established construction and development company in Carlsbad is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee accounting operations for key development and construction projects. This hybrid role offers flexibility while allowing the candidate to collaborate closely with project managers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in project-specific accounting and managing costs for multiple initiatives. Key Responsibilities: + Accurately track project budgets, costs, and expenses, ensuring compliance with contract terms. + Prepare and process invoices and payment applications for contractors and subcontractors. + Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts related to projects. + Generate and review financial reports, including budget performance, profit margins, and forecasting. + Collaborate with project managers to analyze project costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions. + Assist management in preparing project-specific audits and ensure adherence to compliance standards. + Maintain and organize project contracts and financial records. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. + 3-5 years of accounting experience; previous construction or development accounting preferred. + Proficient in accounting software related to construction projects (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Procore). + Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost tracking and variance analysis. + Familiarity with construction draws, AIA billing, and percentage-of-completion accounting. + Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with project teams.
